Pleasant Park Neighborhood Association Minutes of monthly meeting of members May 9, 2006 The meeting was called to order by the Vice-President Art Trenholme at 7:00 P.M. at the Pleasant Park Grange. The minutes of the April 11, 2006, meeting were read and accepted after the amount of money that we are seeking back from the Pleasant Park Arena Association was corrected to $1867.53. Steve Moran proposed that the minutes be placed on our web page. This will keep members who cannot attend the meetings up to date on our activities. There was also discussion about how long these minutes should remain online. Jane Baumann suggested a one year archive. This proposal passed on a unanimous vote. The secretary will forward the minutes of each meeting to Jane B. Treasurer's Report: Kris Wallack reported that we now have a bank account at the Peak Bank in Conifer. The balance is $100. She is still trying to contact Dave Crosson regarding the PPNA money in the Arena account. Kris also reported that Cary Johnson from the Jeffco DA's office will speak at our next meeting-June 13th on identity theft. This should be very informative and we hope for a good turnout of members. Please pass this information on to all neighbors. Social Committee: Yvonne Ludwig reported that we made $153.20 from our Rummage sale (Saturday, May 6th). She said that the leftover items would either be donated to local charities or saved for a future rummage sale. There was some discussion of when this might be held, but a final decision was tabled for a future meeting. Yvonne also reported we have 7 new paid members from the Rummage sale and 5 new members from tonight's meeting. She thanked everyone for their help with the sale including Peter Brockman and Steve Moran, Jane, Elmore and Joan Laden. Planning and Zoning Committee: John Wallack reported there is nothing new on Conifer Corners or the Paintball proposal. John read an article from the local newspaper that reported paintball damage to cars included a police car in the area. Jane B. said that Conifer Corners is cutting trees and preparing access roads, apparently to do more well drilling/testing. John said that he supposed Conifer Corners developers would be returning to the P&Z Commission within the next month or two to be within their 180 day extension. Neighbors in Need: Steve Moran let us know that our President Darrell Dearborn is home recovering from surgery. He encouraged everyone to stay in touch with Darrell to see how we can help him with errands and things since he is homebound for a while. Darrell's phone number is 303 697-0899. He lives at the corner of Oehlmann Park and Wallace. No report from the Water Committee. Scott Stevenson asked the group if we had a group rate for tree spraying. Since we do not, but there was interest in this among the members, he will check with Lam Tree Services for a quote. He will let Jane know so she can post it on our website. Two new members to our meetings Craig Crowell and Burt Lasko held a lively discussion regarding the proper use of storing and using heavy road-type equipment on land with A-2 zoning. Although no resolution was reached, the members were made aware of this situation near Pleasant Park and Silver Ranch Road. Old business: Art handed out the final version of our By-laws. He said they give our organization structure and flexibility for the future. There were no changes to the By-laws as presented. Kris moved to accept them and Steve seconded that motion. There were 14 ayes and no nayes so the By-laws are accepted. Yvonne brought up that PPNA needs to give the Pleasant Park Grange a donation for the use of the building for our Rummage sale. We also need to know the number of months we are owing for reimbursement for utilities for our monthly meetings. Steve Moran proposed that Yvonne contact Susan Morris of the Grange to determine the amount of the donation and report back to the members at our next meeting. This motion passed unanimously. New business: Shirley Johnson-neighbor and President of the Conifer Area Council brought us up-to-date on development activity in our area including a new development off Pleasant Park Road near Curves in the area of the yellow house. This will be an 8 acre mixed commercial development called the Conifer Business Center with access off Pleasant Park Road. This will likely increase the congestion at the intersection of Hwy. 285 and Pleasant Park Road which is already pretty bad. Art said we need to stay on top of this intersection issue whenever it comes up to have input into a better solution. Shirley also reported that high speed internet has finally reached the Silver Ranch area through a company called BroadSpoke. Suzi Morris brought members up-to-date on the status of the Conifer Museum. She said there will be a meeting next Monday at 10 A.M. at the Conifer Community Church to decide some important matters such as a name for the museum. She told us they would love to have the museum at the Yellow Barn, but that is not for sure, including many unsettled issues with the owner of the Yellow Barn (ie the owner has not yet set a price). However she said although they don't know where it will be, there will be a museum. Many talented and capable people with real museum experience have volunteered to be on the Board and they are excited about getting going before senior members of our community pass away. Getting their oral history and pictures are a priority. The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Joan Laden Secretary
